First of all - my sincerest apologies to my faithful blog followers. There was no post on Wednesday because the blogger was not feeling well. So Memere, Aunt Lisa and Dad(Pat) we do know you are watching - Thanks.
So as I said on Wednesday - we really did not do much because Kathy was sick. Dennis left with his dad to bring his motorcycle back to Spencer. Cortney took the kids up to the pool for a while. Kathy and Vicki played some more Canasta. We are not really sure what happened but Kathy seems to be taking things from Vicki. First Kathy is having trouble thinking of the words she wants to use (not Vicki), then if you remember Vicki was the one that fell out of the trailer - well Kathy has a huge bruise on her right foot's toes and her left foot is swollen (much worse than Vicki - and we don't know why) and finally Vicki was complaining that she couldn't go to the bathroom - well guess who ended up running to the bathroom the rest of the day.!!! Kathy told Vicki at least she could do something good like Vicki could say she needed to lose 100 pounds and maybe Kathy could do that - what do you think?
Anyway - so I know the kids were a little bored - but the upside sometimes you need some downtime on vacation.
Thursday - Kathy's feet still are not looking that great - but she is determined to get out of the trailer today. So after breakfast sandwiches and showers we get ready to head out. The Desplaines family are heading out on their own today. So the Kings head out. The kids ask for Chinese food - so Kathy surprises them - I don'tknow the name of the restaurant - but it is the Chinese restaurant between Renys and the campground. You have to go there! The food was delicious, the restaurant was gorgeous. THe service incredible. Mimi said the BBQ spareribs were the best she ever had - (Grandma Pauline guess you'll have to make her some - cuz I hear yours are the best!)
Next stop we went to Renys. Kathy bought a new game. As we were checking out we all got free candy bars, in honor of Mr Reny who passes away last week - why? Because Mr Reny believed life is too uncertain - you should eat dessert first!
Anyway - we continued up to Old Orchard Beach which is where the King Kids wanted to go. We browsed in all the stores. Nick bought the book he had seen the other day. Then we went up onto the Pier and Zack bought is Marshmallow gun (Everyone look out) (But Grandpa Ed we were wondering if you could figure out how to make this we'll show you it when we get home) and Mimi bought a shirt with her name on it.
After we stopped for a snack - fried oreos. The kids looked at me VERY STRANGELY when I handed them this blob of dough on a stick - and told them it was an Oreo - but it was sinfully delicious.
we also ran into Megan and Cortney (I think the Desplaines were stalking us!)
Anyway the Kings left Old Orchard and went on an expedition to find Cookie Monster. Zack wants to buy one for his little sister Caleigh. We have tried to win them - and that is todays mission, since he is OBSESSED to find it.
The Kings head to South Portland. We find a Toys R Us and Mission accomplished! They have a cookie monster - BUT don't tell Caleigh - It's a surprise!
Kathy also gets to do some shopping at Michaels. Then we head back to the campground for a late dinner of BBQ ribs which literally fall off the bones.
Meanwhile - The Desplaines family drop Lacey off at Theresa's house. They head to the Country Buffet for Lupper. Next they pick up Lacey. They now head to Old Orchard Beach. The girls do some shopping while Vicki, Dennis and Lacey hang out on the beach. Then Dennis manages to beat both the girls at one time in a wrestling match on the beach. Lacey enjoyed going swimming again. They stayed for the fireworks at 945pm. Then they headed back to the campground for an even later dinner!
Theresa thanks for watching Lacey. She loved playing with Lady and Ally. But she had a nightmare last night - and she was saying something about no more MoMo.

Well this has been a very busy day for the group. After everyone got up and had breakfast - we took showers - Kathy got the bad shower - that only trinkles - not a good way to start the day.
Then Kathy, Vicki, and the kids headed up to Saco while Dennis and Dennis went for a motorcycle ride. Kathy, Vicki and the kids - went to FunTown, SplashTown USA. We were a little disappointed in the park - because the water park had VERY little in it - and there were HUGE lines for the few rides they had. So after about 1 1/2 hours - Vicki, Meg, Cort and Mimi headed to the car to get change and have lunch. Kathy, Nick and Zack hung out at the water park for about another 2 hours.
We caught back up with each other. The older kids were disappointed in the ride selections but they did go on quite a few rides. There were very few rides though that Zack would go on. BUT he was very happy driving his mom around in the cars. But I think his favorite ride was the bumper boats - which was the last ride of the day.
We decided to leave the park around 6 and head over to Old Orchard Beach. We parked right near the beach. The kids had a great time jumping the waves and swimming. Zack had fun looking for shells and playing in the sand as well. After all this - the kids decided they were hungry. We headed over to the Main ST. The Kings had Lisa's Pizza while the Deplaines decided on SubWay. Next after watching the train come through the center of town, we all had Pier French Fries....YUM :)
Next we took a walk up on the Pier. Although the Pier is definately not what Vicki and Kathy remember from their childhoods - everyone had a good time.
We drove back to pick up Lacey and ended back at the campground. Everyone showered and we cleaned up before relaxing before bed. It has been a very busy day - but NOONE got burned in the making of this day.

Well this morning did not start out very well. Vicki fell out of the trailer carrying everything to make breakfast - there was broken eggs, squashed bread, and Vicki all over the ground. BUT I happy to announce - except for being a little sore - Vicki is doing fine. - The 3 eggs and 1/2 gallon of milk were pronounced dead at the scene!
So after a breakfast of French Toast and Bacon. Dennis headed back to Massachusetts to get his motorcycle. The kids went up to the pool. Kathy and Vicki did laundry - took a dip in the pool - and took their showers. We all headed back to the trailer for some lunch.
After lunch - Zack had a headache - so Nick went for a run while Megan and Mimi took a bike ride. Finally while Zack rested Kathy, Nick and Vicki got a game of Canasta going.
The weather all day was iffy and we finally decided to try to take a ride somewhere. We headed to Perkins Cove - but before we reached it the sky literally opened up and started pouring and thunder and lightening! We drove into Perkins Cove - but left. As we headed back into Ogunquit - the sun came back out - so we headed to Ogunquit Beach. The kids headed right for the beach - but Lacey was sad
:( since there are NO dogs allowed.
The kids starting writing messages in the sand. Cortney found this huge clam - that was moving. There was a rainbow - if you look very carefully in the Ogunquit pictures you can see part of it!
When Vicki told Lacey there was no dogs allowed on the beach - Lacey stood on her 2 back legs as if to say - "I'm not a dog - see!"
We left Ogunquit Beach and came back to the trailer. The kids all put on their bathing suits. Kathy dropped everyone off at Wells Beach - and she went and picked up the few groceries that we needed.
At the beach - everyone enjoyed swimming in the ocean - including Lacey - you had a great time using the boogie board with Zack. Kathy picked everyone up and we headed back to the trailer. After showers (including Lacey's) we had tacos for dinner. After dinner - Dennis and his dad came back to the campground.
Nick, Vicki and Kathy finished their game of Canasta.
Question of the day - Who won the game of Canasta?

Merry Christmas. Today is Christmas in July at the campground and at Nubble Light. Today we spent a relaxing day at the campground. Hanging out in the hammock. Just sitting outside enjoying the nice weather. In the afternoon, Zack made a new friend - Sticky. Sticky is this long branch that has extensions that look like arms and legs. Sticky has good oral hygiene because Zack showed us how he brushes teeth with pine needles. The girls took a bike ride.
In the afternoon, the girls went to get some groceries. First stop was Renys, Dollar Tree, and finally Hannafords. Meanwhile, back at the campground, the boys were hanging out with Dennis. Typically the boys were playing ....... video games!
With all our shopping done - we head back to the campground for a delicious steak dinner... Steak, Vicki's summer squash, zucchini and onion packets, and Dennis' homemade french fries. It was delicious!
After dinner we took a ride - We drove along the coast to Nubble Light. We got some delicious ice cream.....
1st question of the day - match up the ice cream with the person.....
1. Cortney a. Et's Revenge
2. Dennis b. Strawberry Shortcake sundae
4. Kathy c. Coffee ice cream cone
4. Megan d. Nothing (that got forgotten! :( )
5. Mimi e. Black Raspberry Explosion
6. Nick f. Leftover Strawberry Shortcake Sundae
7. Vicki g. Vanilla Milkshake
8. Zack h. Cookie Dough ice cream cone
Then we sat and listened to SeaCoast Orchestra play Christmas music. During the show - the conductor told us that it wasn't cold enough for Santa. Then as the music went on towards the end - with Santa Claus is coming to town - all of a sudden we see this fire truck lights - and guess who showed up on the fire truck - SANTA! Santa through candy - and then all at once - they lit up Nubble Lighthouse. It was outlined in white lights, with a Christmas tree in the window, and a red beacon light.
We headed back to the campground. Kathy, Vicki, Mimi, Megan and Zack played Clue. It was Col Mustard, with the lead pipe in the Hall that did it.....and Vicki figured it out!
The boys watched - Spongebob, the girls watched Yours, Mine and Ours. and the adults hung out outside.
Oh by the way - we celebrated someone's birthday today that is on vacation - whose birthday?

Friday & Saturday, July 24 & 25
Well nothing too exciting to report. Friday - the King family headed to Church St Marketplace. This is like Fanueil Hall in Boston. There are all kinds of places to eat, shop and all kinds of street performers. There were 1 man bands, jugglers, and all other kinds of acts - including a 10 year old playing the violin.
After shopping the King family headed home. While the kids were swimming mom did all our laundry so we are all set for our next vacation. After swimming for 3 hours - we head back to the condo for a late dinner. THen we pack everything - so in the morning all we have to do is pack the fridge stuff and then put everything in the car.
Saturday - is travel day. We will be traveling from Stowe, Vermont to Wells Beach, Maine. We get the car packed and head out on I89. We make a short stop in Quechee Gorge. The ride is going very smoothly until we reach I95. It is a parking lot. It takes us an hour just to go the short distance from the tolls to the bridge - I think we should head back to Vermont! To kill some of the traffic - we start doing the Macarena and the Chicken Dance.
We meet the Desplaines in their trailer at Hannaford parking lot. They have the chairs set up, a table out - and their riding bikes.....guess they don't need the campground.
We head to the campground.....we check out the campground and decide that out of the available sites that site 9 is the best spot. As Dennis, Vicki and Kathy set up the trailer and tent - Cortney takes the kids up to the pool. Well needless to say - when they come back - Kathy, Vicki and Dennis are pretty tired. The kids really want to go to the beach - so Kathy tells them if they help unload the van she will take them after dinner. Let me tell you = you have never seen a van get unloaded that fast. We settle on sandwiches for supper.
Then we head to the beach. Lacie has a blast. She finds a piece of seaweed and plays tug of war. Then Zack is taking pails and making piles - Lacie digs them up. Cortney starts writing messages in the sand. Nick write - Nick is single. Call me.
After about an hour - we head back to the campground. The girls head into the tent and watch Shrek. The boys watch Click in the trailer. Kathy, Dennis and Vicki just relax outside.
We all head to bed.

Well after a hearty breakfast of pancakes and bacon the 6 of us headed for the swimming pool - for a morning swim. After the kids swam for about 2 hours - Grandma and Grandpa came to bring Ashley and Brittany home. They stayed for lunch and then we said goodbye to Brittany and Ashley.
Next the Kings headed South = to Rock of Ages. Rock of Ages is a granite quarry. We took a tour to the actual quarry which is over 600 feet deep. We watched how the workers get to and from the bottom of the quarry. There is enough granite in this 1 quarry to last them 145,000 years! They are currently getting together some granite to be used as a memorial for the Old Man in the Mountain, in New Hampshire. We were also able to watch the artisans in the factory cutting, sculpting, and polishing their creations.
Then we got to try it out. We eached sandblasted a piece of granite to bring home with us. Next stop the granite boling alley.
We also found out an interesting fact - which is the question of the day......
What film filmed some of its scenes in 2009 in the Quarry? This question is brought to you by Nicholas!
After visiting the quarry we next visited Hope Cemetary. All of the stones in the cementary are from this quarry. But the really neat thing is some of the designs of the stones. Everything from the traditional angels, and crosses - to busts of the people, soccer balls, cubes, a racecar. These are truly works of art.
We started to drive back to our condo and decided to make one more stop for the day. We visited the Trapp Family Lodge. When the von Trapp family left Austria and first gazed on the sweeping mountain vistas of Stowe, Vermont, they knew immediately they had found their new home. And since then, the von Trapp family has invited families to join them in sharing the wonder of mountain living.
The Trapp family first started welcoming guests to their 27-room lodge in the summer of 1950. Thirty-three years later the family opened its doors to a new 93-room resort with the same country charm as the original lodge. The Lodge continues to be owned and operated by the Trapp family, the inspiration for the classic musical and movie "The Sound of Music."
Today, the 2,400-acre resort with sweeping mountain views provides accommodations in an Austrian-style Main Lodge with 96 rooms and suites, 100 2-bedroom Guest Houses (time shared) and 16 luxurious 3-bedroom Villas (Fractional and whole ownership).
A common question of the Trapp Family is which family member is played by the movie characters? The names of the movie characters are not the real names of the sons and daughters of Captain Georg and Maria von Trapp. The following will hopefully help to clarify this.
Leisl played by Charman Carr represents Agathe von Trapp
Frederick played by Nicholas Hammond represents Rupert von Trapp
Louisa played by Heather Menzies Urich represents Maria von Trapp, daughter of the Captain and Agathe Whitehead von Trapp
Kurt played by Duane Chase represents Werner von Trapp
Brigita played by Angela Cartwright Gullion represents Hedwig von Trapp
Martha played by Debbie Larson represents Johanna von Trapp
Gretl played by Kim Karath represents Martina von Trapp
The grounds are beautiful including 5 different gardens. The view of Stowe is absolutely breathtaking.
We then return to the condo for dinner, and a movie.

Tuesday & Wednesday, July 21-22
The past 2 days have been more about relaxation and visiting then anything else. On Tuesday, after sleeping in late, we headed out for some retail therapy. First we went to Christmas Tree Shop (and Josh - they had some GREAT buys!) Mimi was very excited about her hair straightener.
Next we went to Ponderosa Steakhouse for lunch with Grandma and Grandpa. Next stop was Toys R Us. Zack was very excited to get a double Transformers set. Next we set out for the University Mall. We went to Bon Ton and Mimi got some new shorts and cool nail polish.
Last stop for the evening - was Pizza Putt. Pizza Putt is a pizza place, arcade, mini golf, lazer tag place. We were joined by Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Henry, Aunt Lisa, Christine, Ashley and Brittany. After eating and some games - Nick, Zack and Kathy played a game of laser tag - and we had the whole place to ourselves. 10 minutes of nonstop hunting each other down. And the winner was........Nick!
We headed back to the condo - again we needed to go through Smugglers pass - in the dark - but this time we added rain!
Wednesday morning - again the kids didn't want to get up - so we got a very late stop. We went and picked up Grandma and Ashley to go shopping since Grandpa was doind some work around Uncle Henry's house all day.
We headed to Shelburne to the Vermont Teddy Bear factory. Nick made a bear - dressed it in a leather coat and named it Peanut Butter. Zack made a red bear - dressed it in a skeleton costume and called it Skittles. Ashley made a dog - dressed in a sundress and crocs and named it Coco. We had a picnic lunch outside.
Next we headed to Church St and the Downtown mall. We took Ashley shopping for some clothes and made a few quick other stops = but we intend to retun another day since we did not even make it to Church St Marketplace. We went back to Uncle Henry's house and had dinner. Aunt Anna and Uncle Ed were there too. After dinner Kathy, Nick, Mimi, Zack, Brittany and Ashley headed back to the condo for some swimming. Ashley and Brittany are staying over.

Well today is adventure day for the King Family. After a nice breakfast of homemade breakfast sandwiches, we head up the road about 5 miles to Mt Mansfield. Our first stop takes us to the Alpine Slides. To ride the Alpine Slides you take a ski lift 2300 feet up the mountain. From there you sit on basically a slide with wheels and go down this track filled with twist and turns. You pick up speed as you come down - BUT your slide is equipped with a brake to help control your speed. Two slides go at the same time - with tracks side by side - so you can race each other down! COOL!
Well after Nick and Mimi do it once - the kids head up for another trip down the mountain.
After that we head over to the next attraction - Bungee Trampolines. Here they attach bungee cords to a harness on your waist. As you begin to jump they tighten the tension in the bungee cords - making you be able to jump to incredible new heights!
Then we head over for the Gondola ride to the summit of Mt Mansfield (GULP) The Gondola is like this enclosed ski lift - and it goes all the way to the summit. After it gets going the view is AMAZING! When we arrived at the summit - we had lunch. Zack was terrified to leave the Gondola building because he thought he was going to fall off the cliff. After a little coaxing I was able to get him outside. And after a little more I managed to get him to look around a little bit - though he was still scared.
The ride back down was again very beautiful.
The kids decided to head back to the Alpine slides for a few more rides.
Then we headed up North to Fairfax, VT - this is where Uncle Henry and Aunt Lisa live (and where Grandma and Grandpa are staying). We had a wonderful supper (the kids only had burgers - but we had scallops, and shrimp - YUM!) The kids had a great time playing with Bear. Bear is a black lab!
Then we headed back home. By the way - travel tip - if you ever head up 108N through Smugglers Notch - be very very careful. The road is very VERY windy, and EXTremelY narrow in spots - I guess the ride home in the dark was my adventure ride for the day!
QUestion of the day - 2 of us got sunburned today - which 2?

Boy do I have a busy day planned for the kids today. After getting up and having French Toast and Bacon for breakfast. I tell the kids to put on their bathing suits and to pack the ice chest for our picnic lunch. They want to know why bathing suits - but I tell them it is a special surprise.
We hit the road. First we stop at Cold Hollow Cider Mill. It is New England's largest producer of fresh apple cider. They also produce 10,000 cider donuts a day! While we were here we were able to see how cider was made. We saw bees making honey. The smell of fresh cider doughnuts filled the room - and we watched them made....of course we had to try some samples!
Next we headed down Rt 100 into Bolton, Vt. We turned up this small side road - to bring us to our next destination. I could see the confusion on the kids face as I pulled up on the side of the orad behind a few other cars and told them we were here. They were even more confused as I led them down this small dirt path through the woods. But then we came across our destination - Bolton Potholes. This is a set of 3 waterfalls. The top waterfall cascades into a 5ft pothole. Then it cascades into a 25ft pothole. The third waterfall cascades into a river channel. The water in the potholes was emerald green. The river channel was shallow enough for the kids to explore. Nick wanted to put his head under a waterfall - well see the pictures! The current was too strong to get to the big one - so he settled for a smaller one! As we were getting ready to leave - some other people came and were jumping into the potholes - it reminded me of the Cliff Divers in Acapulco. As we headed back to the car - the kids asked if we could come back - so I guess they really liked it! We had a picnic lunch of homemade fried chicken and chocolate chip cake before leaving.
We then headed back to the house for everyone to get changed out of their wet bathing suits.
Next we stopped at a few of the local stores. Our next stop was a covered bridge in Stowe. It was built in 1844. It crosses Gold Brook. There are 3 stories about how the bridge got its name....
The first is that a person was on the way to her wedding when her horse bolted and threw hew while crossing the bridge and she died from her injuries.....
The second is that she person was jilted by her fiance and hung herself from the bridge rafters.
The third is that the person fell in love with someone that got her pregnant. When her father approached the person to marry her - he killed himself at the bridge. After the twins were born - she went there and killed herself too.
I know - all horrible stories - but it is how the bridge was named.
So for a prize - name the bridge?
Oh by the way - people say you can see her ghost there - but we didn't!
Next westopped at Cabot Cheese. You can sample EVERY one of their cheeses there! They also have a wine tasting for $1 for 3 wines! Nick tried a Chipotle Cheddar - I think I saw steam come out his ears!
Our final stop for the day - Ben and Jerry's ice Cream factory. We took this tour and heard the story on how there 2 friends created this incredible business. But it is not just the great tasting uniques ice cream that makes them great. It's the way they have chosen to give back to their community, their costumers, and their employees. - Their employees get 3 pints of ice cream a day!!!! Mimi is ready to start work there. We were then able to sample some! We then took a walk out to the Flavor Graveyard. This is where all flavors that they no longer make are honored.
After returning to the condo, we had tacos for dinner. Zack and I went swimming. Now we finish up the blog - and to bed we go.....
Oh - a bonus question - While we were at Ben and Jerry's we saw cars from how many different states?
Good luck on the contests - 1st right answers win the prizes!

We're on the road again.
This is Captain Kathy and welcome to King Flight 718 to Stowe Vermont. We anticipate the ride to be a smooth one. We will be stopping for lunch. So sit back and relax and enjoy the scenery.
Sorry - guess all this time in a car with 3 kids is making me a little crazy!
Today we traveled to Vermont. Travel hint for everyone trveling in this direction. Go to the Visitor Center on I89 in Brattleboro Vermont. There are plenty of brochures, clean restrooms, and FOOD. The food was by Donation only. There was everything from coffee, water, soda, fresh fruits, cookies, muffins, sandwiches, even dog biscuits! After our refreshing stop we head back on the road.
After the stop Mikayla wonders what it would be like to do her knitting if she was blind. I tell her I wonder what it would be like to drive blind!
We stop just after White River Junction for a lunch break.
Again after the break we have another strange discussion. There are signs that say Moose crossing next 8 miles. Then after 8 miles a sign that says Deer crossing. I ask Mimi what happens if they cross in the wrong section. Does Smokey the Bear come and give them a ticket?
Gee maybe I should stay away from eating and driving?
Well as sad as we were to stop following the Eagle (my mom's trailer) we head off to Stowe to our Condo. For the next week we will be staying at Mountainside Resort. We check into the room, and after unpacking head of to dinner....PieCasso Pizzeria. They have a coupon you can purchase on Restaurant.com....What a deal - we ended up with 4 sodas, Garlic Knots, French Fries, Chicken Tenders and a Large Carcass pizza....for $20.00 after the coupon!
After dinner we take a little ride to explore the area. We rent a movie at RedBox. Zack and I go for a swim. After watching the movie (and updating all the old blog stuff) we head to bed. ZZZZZ

Thurs & Fri - July 9th and 10th, 2009
Well today - we are hitting the road for a special surprise. An overnight trip to FOXWOODS MGM. Grandma and Grandpa - have gotten 4 tickets to Cirque de Soleil and a room for the night.
The lobby was so cool. We then walked around the casino to get up to our hotel room - OOOOOH all the lights and sounds! We get to our room - Mom gives us the lecture about the minibar - DON"T TOUCH!
We head down for the show. I don't know if you know what the Illuminations show is....it was incredible. These acrobats that do these incredible things in incredible ways!
Next we head to Hard Rock Cafe for a snack - and check out all the memorabilia!
Almost time for bed - but Nick picks up something from the minibar - now it is weight sensitive - and since we are going to get charged - I call the front desk and tell them my 8 year old picked something up - but we put it right back - well Zack is in the back yelling it wasn't him - (Guess he's not taking the blame!)
In the morning - we go swimming in the pool. Now I'm not sure if the pool was really warm 0 or if it is just the air was sooooo cold - the pool feels like a hottub! and there;s hardly anyone in it! It's AWESOME.
We head back to the room for showers and to pack up. We stripped the room of anything we could - stationary, shampoos, soaps, pens, paper. Zack's favorite part of the room - was the glass shower - he liked to go in there - and pretend that he was yelling - and pretending it was soundproof - so we couldn't hear him! I would pay EXTRA for a room like that! Mimi's favorite thing - the phone at the toilet! Teenage girls!
We head to the Arcade. Zack manages to win enough tickets for the wizard hat he wants! Then FuddRuckers for lunch. Time to head home. Oh yeah - and grandma and grandpa won around $100!

4th of July weekend
Guess what - more rain on Friday. Ryan went home after a quick ride in the rowboats - but again - it rained! We hope Ryan had a good time. I know Zack (and the rest of us) was very happy he came with us.
For the 4th - the kids did tye dye t shirts. Then the boys participated on the Wet and Wild Hayride. Mimi and Mel (and little David) deciding to throw water at the hayride. They filled up the cooler so they could fill their buckets. At the end - they ended up trying to dump the water from the cooler - but threw it instead - that's a couple of blondes for you!
Saturday evening there was a dance. We had a campfire - although Kathy is the only one that stayed at the fire. Over the distant trees would could see the fireworks from Old Sturbridge Village.
Sunday - time to head home. Everyone has chores to do. Since Nick and Mimi have complained about every chore - Kathy gives them only 1.....have you seen the movie RV....fire in the hole!

Wed & Thurs - July 1 & 2, 2009
Well the weather certainly has not cooperated much for us. We have had even MORE rain. But Wednesday evening we managed to get in a campfire. Getting the fire started was alot of work since the wood was wet - but thanks to Kathy's scouting skills we were able to get it going. During the campfire we roasted marshmallows, made smores. Kathy told us the story of Falling Rocks. We sang John Brown's jalopy. Then Nick taught us There Are No Bananas In The Sky.
Thursday we had plans to go to a Beatles concert on the common - but guess what - IT WAS RAINED OUT!!!!!! so instead we had a 3 hour Po-Keno tournament - and the winner was........drum roll please...............RYAN~!

After a nice quiet breakfast we awaited our visitors for the day. Ryan and Zachary went to the playground to play (and watch out for our gueats) Kathy's best friend Vicki, her daughter Megan, and her nieces and nephew Kayla, Lauren and Cameron came out today to join us for some swimming.
After they arrived we headed up to the pool. While the kids swam, Kathy and Vicki kept an eye (and camera on them). We headed back to the trailer to get ready for lunch. While Kathy and Vicki made lunch - the boys went fishing, and the girls worked on their suntans. After lunch (hot dogs) we decided to teach everyone how to play Pokeno. Everyone had a good time, and although amny people at different times were winning (ryan, Zachary, Kayla) it was Kathy that won the whole game!
The group headed back up to the pool. After more swimming (and pictures) Vicki and her group headed home (kidnapping Mikayla with them!)
Meanwhile back at the campsite......Kathy and Zachary put together a picnic dinner for everyone. Meanwhile, Ryan and Nicholas played another game of Pokeno and then made up their own game - similiar to WAR. Kathy popped some popcorn - right before packing everyone into the car. We headed to the Big Y to buy some candy. Finally we picked up Vicki, Cortney(Vicki's other daughter) and Johnnie(Cortney's boyfriend) and headed to the Leicester Drivein. We had a picnic dinner. Then played a little catch. Finally we watched Transformers 2. It was as good as the first one!
Finally with a bunch of tired kids we headed back to the campground. I just hope the trailer doesn't transform into something!

Well, here we are at the campground. Everything is perfect except - THE RAIN! and looking at the schedule we're going to get alot of it this week.
After taking care of some errands we picked up Zachary's friend Ryan who will be camping with us this week. After returning to the campground and unpacking the car, Zachary and Ryan headed to the playground while Kathy prepared Spaghetti and Meatballs for dinner. Kathy's mom and dad came for dinner. After dinner while Kathy cleaned up - Nicholas, Zachary and Ryan went fishing. Zachary and Ryan both caught fish - and Ryan took them both of the hook by himself!
Then Mikayla, Nicholas, Zachary and Ryan took a walk to the Thinking tree (which is this really funky looking tree). After everything was cleaned up - we headed up to the swimming pool.
After swimming for 90 minutes we headed back to the trailer and watched "Transformers", before going to bed for the evening.

Well - the King Family is back on the road again. This week we are just camping locally in Sturbridge, our mission - RELAXATION - which is just what we all need after our busy busy school year. I proud to say that the Kings had ALOT of accomplishments they should be proud of. So, just to keep you informed here are just some of the highlights of the year.
Zachary - Zachary made alot of improvements in school this year. He did a great science project on Jupiter. And he did a book report dressed up as PT Barnum. He was promoted to 3rd grade. Zachary played basketball during the winter. Zachary also performed at Dance Techniques as Troy Bolton in Now or Never with 8 cheerleaders! And finally Zachary's bowling team finished 2nd place.
Mikayla - Mikayla made the transition to Junior High this year. Her last semester she made HONOR ROLL! Mikayla was promoted to 8th grade. Mikayla played saxophone in the school concert band. She continues to dance at Danc Techniques - She auditioned for the finale number and made it - which gave her 5 numbers to dance in at the recital - Disturbia, God Bless America, Blue Jeans, Sand between my toes, and the finale! Mikayla also was a teachers assistant at the studio this year. Mikayla's bowling team finished 2nd place. Mikayla also competed in the State Bowling Championships - which she recieved 2nd place in Doubles, and she was State Champion in teams!
Nicholas - Nicholas finished 8th grade at Knox Trail. He was awarded the Diligent Worker award in Reading. He was promoted to 9th grade! Nicholas played clarinet in the school concert band. Nicholas also was a member of the high school marching band - which recieved many awards for the competition. They performed a medley of Danny Elfman songs that included - Nightmare before Christmas and Beetlejuice. Nicholas made the finals in the Declamation Contest in school where he did a terrific job of reciting the Gettysburg Address. Nicholas also ran Cross Country on his school team. Nicholas performed in the Drama Clubs' productions. He was the person murdered in "Who poisoned his Meatball". He also was cast as Mugsy in "Give my Regards to Broadway". Nicholas was also an active member with the church youth group and went to Monadnock with them. Unfortunately he had to come home early because he came down with kidney stones. Nicholas continued growing and is officially taller than his mom! Nicholas's bowling team finished 2nd place (yes they are all on the same team!) Nicholas was also invited to the State Bowling Championships.
Kathy - Kathy managed to not miss anyone's busy schedules. She also managed to achieve Dean's list both semesters at school.
So as you can see - it really has been a busy year - and rest and relaxation are exactly what we need. - Hope we get it!
